TEXT: Physics and Technology for Future Presidents: An Introduction to the Essential Physics Every World Leader Needs to Know, by Richard A. Muller, Princeton University Press (May 2, 2010), # ISBN-10: 0691135045

PREREQUISITES: at least a slight interest in physics.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is an introductory appetizer for students with more than a passing interest in Physics. It will consist of seminar presentations, both by faculty and you, the students.

Course Topics: Current topics offered by Physics faculty and topics you love to present, as long as it is still Physics.

COURSE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course, you should have a undeniable interest in pursuing a BS in Physics.


Expected learning outcomes include but are not limited to:

 

General learning outcomes

Scientific method: You should be able to recognize and explain the scientific method, and evaluate scientific information.

Effective teamwork: You should be able to collaborate and perform effectively in team activities.

 

Course specific learning outcomes

You should have a undeniable interest in pursuing a BS in Physics.
You should have a good overview about current research topic pursued by the faculty of our Physics Department.

GRADING: pass/fail - regular attendence and one presentation required, active participation welcome.
